Therapy for Trauma in London

Trauma is not only about what happened, but about how it continues to affect you. It might stem from a single event, such as an accident, assault or sudden loss, or from experiences that built up over time, such as neglect, bullying, abuse or growing up in an unsafe environment. Therapy offers a safe space to understand those effects and begin to feel more settled.

I am a BACP-accredited psychotherapist offering trauma-informed therapy in central London and online, working with adults.

The effects of trauma can include

  • Flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive memories

  • Feeling on edge, easily startled or constantly on guard

  • Feeling numb, cut off or disconnected from yourself or others

  • Anxiety, panic, low mood or irritability

  • Difficulty trusting people or feeling safe in relationships

  • Shame, guilt or self-blame

  • Avoiding reminders of what happened

  • Coping through alcohol, drugs, sex, work or other behaviours

How therapy can help

We go at your pace, and you stay in control of what we talk about. The early work focuses on safety and stability, including ways to manage overwhelming feelings, before exploring difficult experiences when you feel ready.

Over time, therapy can help you make sense of how trauma has shaped you, ease its hold on your body and mind, and build a stronger sense of safety and connection.
